The Tenacity of Viruses

Made in collaboration with the UC Davis Biology Department, this Processing sketch shows how copies of the HIV virus chase a lymphocyte. The virus is repelled by itself but attracted to the lymphocyte. Red blood cells float by in the background. I used abstracted illustrated images for the virus and lymphocyte in order to make a difficult subject easier to talk about.
Infection

A copy of the virus infects an innocent lymphocyte. The background gets darker as the lymphocyte is further corrupted.
